Note to the Community
May 01, 2007 by Scott Finkeldei
Welcome to the third issue of Axio Quarterly, a publication that aims to bring you news and information about the Axio Learning Community, along with expert information and tips to assist you in your daily teaching activities.
Spring is here, and development is well underway for Axio Learning Version 3.0. Currently, user interfaces are being created, developers are refi ning the code, and the quality assurance team is planning their tests. Spring brings to mind new growth and change, and Version 3.0 will feature some great improvements to the instructor tools and navigation that will make the system easier to learn and use.
In this issue you will fi nd articles about those upcoming changes and new additions to Axio, as well as information about active learning, a profi le about one of our member institutions, Manhattan Christian College, and a few ideas to help you use Axio effectively.
We also highlight Stacy Smith, a higher education instructor with more than 12 years of experience, and an interest in educational technology, accessibility and universal design. Accessibility of course material does not have to be difficult, and Smith provides information on how to implement accessibility into online courses.
Planning has begun for the 2007 Axio Learning Community Meeting and Conference. This conference brings together Axio Learning staff and users, and provides an opportunity for learning, collaboration and sharing. Your ideas for what topics should be covered at the sessions and what Axio Learning can do to assist you and your institution are welcomed. If you have a suggestion for a presentation or session, or would like to present on a topic, please contact Dave Young at dayoung@axiolearning.org
As always, your input is encouraged. The most important assets of the Axio Learning Community are the members and their ideas. Collaboration and sharing are key components of our success. If you have any ideas or suggestions for Axio Quarterly or for the Axio tools, please contact us at info@axiolearning.org
Enjoy this issue of Axio Quarterly and the great spring weather!
