Why I love Axio

May 01, 2010 by Axio Staff

Why I Love Axio” is a new feature we are adding to the Axio Quarterly. We decided to visit Manhattan Christian College and Kansas State campuses to see why people love Axio. We caught up with some students and instructors to see how they use the system, and what they like about it.

Alina Launchbaugh
“I like to see my grades posted. It helps me out a lot.” Alina Launchbaugh, senior
Kathy Voecks
“I used the Message Board in my class I taught this semester. I created groups and had a specific Message Board for each group. It really helped group communication.” Kathy Voecks, assistant professor
Alicia Henry
“I can get on and see what my grades are without having to wait for the assignments to get back to me.” Alicia Henry, freshman
Ashley Wheeler
“It’s nice to be able to submit assignments online.” Ashley Wheeler, junior
Chris Maddock
“I like how everything is easy to find, like the Gradebook and Dropbox, because it’s all in the same place.” Chris Maddock, sophomore
Danielle Williams
“I like knowing what my grade is at all times.” Danielle Williams, freshman
Jen McGauley
“I get to see my grades really quickly. It’s nice when a teacher puts PowerPoint slides and other documents online so that you don’t have to print everything out.” Jen McGauley, senior
Paul Catterson
“I wish there was more uniformity among professors. Half of them use MCC Online and the other half don’t It would be better if they all used it.” Paul Catterson, freshman
Jacob Long
“I like the convenience that Axio offers.” Jacob Long, freshman
Sam Mwangi
“I did not know the depth of the system until I used it for a distance education course I taught. There are a lot of capabilities within Axio. I felt crazy at first when I would be in a basement talking into a little camera on my computer. But it turned out to be very helpful when I could have my voice to describe PowerPoint slides to my students. I had students from Zambia, Thailand and other regions all over the world. I felt a good connection with my students being able to offer more than just text to them. I also had them use the Chat feature. Overall it is really a good system with a lot of depth to it.” Sam Mwangi, assistant professor
